Known hypersensitivity to calcium folinate or any other components
Pernicious anemia or other megaloblastic anemia where vitamin B12 is deficient
Rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption

Common side effects include mucositis, stomatitis, leukopenia and/or diarrhea

Use in pregnant women only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus; caution in nursing mothers

Use with methotrexate or 5-FU under the direct supervision of a clinician experienced in the use of cancer chemotherapeutic agents
Administer calcium folinate as soon as possible in the treatment of inadvertent overdosage of a folic acid antagonist
Do not give simultaneously with folic acid antagonists, e.g. methotrexate, to abort clinical toxicity
Ensure the prompt excretion of methotrexate as part of Calcium Folinate Rescue Therapy

Excessive amounts may nullify the chemotherapeutic effect of folic acid antagonists; give appropriate supportive care in cases of overdosage
