Description
- Olmesartan is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
- Olmesartan blocks the vasoconstrictor effects of angiotensin II by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT 1 receptor in vascular smooth muscle.
- The recommended starting dose of Olmesartan is 20 mg once daily when used as monotherapy in patients who are not volume-contracted.
- No initial dosage adjustment is recommended for elderly patients or for patients with marked renal impairment.
- Belsar has been evaluated for safety in more than 3825 patients/subjects, with an incidence of adverse reactions similar to placebo.
- When pregnancy is detected, discontinue this product as soon as possible.
- Changes in renal function may be anticipated in susceptible individuals treated with Belsar.
