Indications
- Prophylactic treatment of bronchial asthma
- Symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions including rhinitis and conjunctivitis
- Alleviating complications of itching, pain, and tenderness associated with neurofibroma
- Symptomatic treatment of allergies such as hayfever and urticaria
Pharmacology
- Anti-allergic properties
- Antihistamine properties
- Marked anti-anaphylactic properties
- Sustained inhibitory effect on histamine reactions
- Effectiveness in reducing asthma attacks
Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 1 mg twice daily with food, may increase to 2 mg twice daily in severe cases
- Children above 3 years: 1 mg twice daily with food
- Elderly: Same as adult dose or as advised by the physician
Interaction
- May potentiate the effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohols
- Reversible fall in platelet count observed in few patients receiving Tofenver concomitantly with oral antidiabetic agents
Contraindications
- Avoid concurrent use with oral antidiabetic agents
- No evidence of teratogenic effect, but not recommended in pregnancy or when breastfeeding
Side Effects
- Drowsiness
- Isolated cases of dry mouth and slight dizziness

- No evidence of teratogenic effect, but not recommended in pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Continue previous treatment for a minimum of two weeks after starting Tofenver
- Advisory against taking charge of vehicle or machinery on the first day of treatment
- Advisory to avoid alcoholic drinks
- May potentiate the effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohol
