Dosage & Administration
- Usual dose of 60 mg thrice daily for film-coated tablet
- Divided dose may be increased to 180-300 mg/day
- Recommended starting dose of 60 mg twice daily for elderly or patients with impaired hepatic or renal function
- Dose measurement through regular heart rate monitoring
- Initial dose of 90 mg or 120 mg twice daily for sustained release tablet
- Up to 360 mg daily may be required for hypertension
- Initial dose of 90 mg or 120 mg twice daily for angina
Interaction
- Concomitant prophylactic therapy with short-or long-acting nitrates
- Caution with other drugs affecting cardiac contractility or conduction
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to the drug
- Sick sinus syndrome
- Second or third degree AV block
- Severe hypertension
- Acute myocardial infarction
- Radiographically documented pulmonary congestion
