Description
- Treatment for essential hypertension in adults
- Reduction of cardiovascular morbidity in adults with atherothrombotic cardiovascular disease or type 2 diabetes mellitus with documented target organ damage
- Non-peptide angiotensin-ll receptor antagonist
- Individualized dosage with usual starting dose of 40 mg once a day
- Dosage response is dose-related over the range of 20 to 80 mg
- Possible interaction with NSAIDS and aliskiren
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the product or any of its components
- Pregnancy Category C (first trimester) and D (second and third trimester)
- Precautions required for fetal or neonatal exposure, hypotension, impaired hepatic or renal function, and concomitant use of an ACE inhibitor and angiotensin receptor blocker
- Manifestations of overdosage include hypotension, dizziness, tachycardia, bradycardia, increase in serum creatinine, and acute renal failure
- Therapeutic class as angiotensin-ll receptor blocker
- Storage conditions: Do not store above 30°C, protect from light and high humidity, keep out of the reach of children
