Indications
- Topical treatment of acne vulgaris
Pharmacology
- Adapalene acts on retinoid receptors
- Modulates cellular differentiation, keratinization, and inflammatory processes
Dosage
- Adapalene 0.1% for affected areas of skin, once daily at night-time
- Adapalene 0.3% for entire face and affected areas, once daily in the evening
- Safety and effectiveness in children below 12 years of age not established
Administration
- Apply thin film of gel or cream to affected areas lightly
Interaction
- Use with caution when using potentially irritating topical products
- Particular caution with use of sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid preparations in combination
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Adapalene or any of its components
Side Effects
- Erythema, scaling, dryness, pruritus, burning sensation, skin irritation, acne flares, etc.
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk to fetus
- Caution with nursing mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- Do not apply to cuts, abrasions, eczematous or sunburned skin
