Description
Flintex is indicated for productive cough and acute/chronic inflammatory disorders of the upper and lower respiratory tracts associated with viscid mucus. It has a greater bronchosecretolytic effect than bromhexine, improving sputum rheology and reducing dyspnea. The dosage varies by age group, and caution is advised for certain patient conditions. It belongs to the therapeutic class of cough expectorants & mucolytics.
Indications
- Productive cough
- Acute and chronic inflammatory disorders of upper and lower respiratory tracts
- Rhinopharyngeal tract inflammatory diseases
- Asthmatic bronchitis with thick expectoration
- Bronchiectasis
- Chronic pneumonia
Pharmacology
- Greater bronchosecretolytic effect than bromhexine
- Improves sputum rheology and reduces dyspnea
- Stimulates production of phospholipids of surfactant by alveolar cells
- Reduces bronchial hyperactivity
- Anti-inflammatory properties
Dosage & Administration
- Average daily dose preferably after meal
- Specific doses for different age groups
- Sustained release capsule for adults and children over 12 years old
Interaction
- Should not be taken simultaneously with antitussives like Codeine
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Ambroxol or Bromhexine
