Opthamet 0.05%+0.04% (Ophthalmic Solution)

Indications

• Temporary relief of allergic conjunctivitis symptoms
• Suitable for adults and children above 2 years of age

Pharmacology

• Contains antazoline, an ethylenediamine class anti-histamine
• Includes tetryzoline, a sympathomimetic with alpha-adrenergic activity

Dosage & Administration

• Adult dosage: 1 drop 2 to 3 times daily for up to 14 days
• Children above 2 years: 1 to 2 drops per day, not to exceed
• Not recommended for children below 2 years of age
• Avoid use for longer than 14 days to prevent rebound hyperemia and toxic conjunctivitis

Interaction

• Contraindicated with MAOIs due to risk of hypertensive crisis
• Enhanced sedating effects with CNS depressants and anti-muscarinic drugs

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Antazoline/Tetryzoline or excipients
• Concomitant use with MAOIs

Side Effects

• Mild and transient burning/stinging upon installation

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Limited clinical data on exposed pregnancies
• Caution advised during breastfeeding

Precautions & Warnings

• Use with caution in elderly patients with severe cardiovascular disease
• including arrhythmia, poorly controlled hypertension, or diabetes

Overdose Effects

• Topical overdose may be flushed from the eye with warm tap water

Storage Conditions

• Use within 30 days after opening
• Store at 15-25°C, protect from light
• Close bottle tightly after use, keep out of reach of children
