Indications
- Temporary relief of allergic conjunctivitis symptoms
- Suitable for adults and children above 2 years of age
Pharmacology
- Contains antazoline, an ethylenediamine class anti-histamine
- Includes tetryzoline, a sympathomimetic with alpha-adrenergic activity
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 1 drop 2 to 3 times daily for up to 14 days
- Children above 2 years: 1 to 2 drops per day, not to exceed
- Not recommended for children below 2 years of age
- Avoid use for longer than 14 days to prevent rebound hyperemia and toxic conjunctivitis
Interaction
- Contraindicated with MAOIs due to risk of hypertensive crisis
- Enhanced sedating effects with CNS depressants and anti-muscarinic drugs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Antazoline/Tetryzoline or excipients
- Concomitant use with MAOIs
Side Effects
- Mild and transient burning/stinging upon installation
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Limited clinical data on exposed pregnancies
- Caution advised during breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in elderly patients with severe cardiovascular disease
- including arrhythmia, poorly controlled hypertension, or diabetes
Overdose Effects
- Topical overdose may be flushed from the eye with warm tap water
