Indications
- Prophylaxis against arterial occlusive events
- Mild to moderate pain
- Chronic disease accompanied by pain and inflammation
- Antipyretic
Pharmacology
- Decreases platelet aggregation
- Inhibits thrombus formation
- Analgesic for headache and musculoskeletal pain
- Anti-inflammatory properties
- Antipyretic properties
- Reduces intestinal disturbance and gastrointestinal ulceration
Dosage & Administration
- Pain relief: 1-3 tablets of 300mg aspirin 6 hourly
- Suspected acute coronary syndrome: 150-300mg immediately
- After myocardial infarction: 150mg daily for 1 month, then 75mg daily
- Acute ischemic stroke: 150-300mg daily, then 75mg daily
- Following bypass surgery: 75-300mg daily starting 6 hours post-procedure
Interaction
- Enhances effect of anticoagulants and oral hypoglycemic agents
- Inhibits uricosuric effect of probenecid
- May increase toxicity of sulphonamides
- May precipitate bronchospasm or induce asthma attacks
Contraindications
- Children under 12 years
- Breastfeeding
- Active peptic ulcer
- Bleeding due to hemophilia
- Intracranial hemorrhage
- Other ulceration

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Avoid use in last 3 months of pregnancy
- Caution with lactating mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- Administer cautiously in asthma and uncontrolled blood pressure
- Administer with caution to patients with nasal polyp and nasal allergy

- CNS depression with coma
