Indications
- Cycloplegic or mydriatic for refraction
- Desired dilatation of the iris or uveal tract
- Treatment to slow the progression of myopia in children
Composition
- Atropine Sulphate BP 10 mg/ml in 1% eye drops
- Atropine Sulphate USP 0.1 mg/ml in 0.01% eye drops
- Preservatives: Benzalkonium Chloride 0.01%, Sodium Perborate 0.01%
Pharmacology
- Suppression of myopia progression
- Action via binding to muscarinic receptors
- Changes in cell signaling proteins and enzymes
- Scleral remodeling or strengthening
- Reduction in axial length and vitreous chamber depth
Dosage & Administration
- 1% Eye drops: For uveitis, one drop three times daily; for refraction, one drop in the eyes twice daily for one or two days before examination, and one hour before examination
- 0.01% Eye drops: One drop to each eye at night
Interaction
- Avoid use with anticholinergics, antiglaucoma agents, potassium citrate, potassium supplements, carbachol, physostigmine, pilocarpine, and CNS medication
Contraindications
- Not to be used in the presence of angle closure glaucoma or suspected angle closure glaucoma
- Depth estimation of the anterior chamber should be performed prior to therapy initiation in glaucoma-susceptible patients

- Vascular congestion

- Exudate
- Contact dermatitis
- Photophobia
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Systemic absorption possible after ocular administration
- Distributed into breast milk in very small amounts
- May cause adverse effects in nursing infants
Precautions & Warnings
- Avoid use in children with severe systemic reaction to Ocupin
- Use with caution in children with Down’s syndrome, spastic paralysis, or brain damage
- Regular eye health clinical reviews recommended for long-term treatment planning
- Not to be used in children under 4 years of age
Overdose Effects
- Flush the eye with water and seek emergency medical attention
- Symptoms include headache, fast heartbeat, dry mouth and skin, unusual drowsiness, flushing

Storage Conditions
- Store below 30°C in a dry place away from light
- Keep out of the reach of children
- Do not use after 1 month of opening
