Indications
- Prevention of angina pectoris
- Long-term treatment of angina pectoris
Pharmacology
- Dilates arterioles and large coronary arteries
- Stimulates guanylate cyclase
- Reduces preload and afterload
- Improves coronary blood flow
Dosage & Administration
- Usual therapeutic range of 10 to 20 mg twice daily
- Starting dose of 10 mg twice daily
- Titration upwards based on patient's needs and tolerance
- Dose reduction for hepatic impairment
Interaction
- Possible potentiation with other vasodilators
- Potential interaction with tricyclic antidepressants and antihypertensive drugs

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Nicorandil
- Cardiogenic shock
- Acute myocardial infarction with acute left ventricular failure and low filling pressures
- Hypotension
- Concurrent use with phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors
