Indications
- Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (seasonal and perennial)
- Symptomatic treatment of urticaria
- Relief of symptoms of hay fever
Pharmacology
- Potent non-sedating histamine antagonist
- High affinity to H1 receptor
- Selective binding to H1 receptor
- Low affinity for other histamine receptor subtypes
- Excellent safety profile
- Favorable pharmacokinetic characteristics
- Non-metabolized in the body
- Excretion through feces and urine
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended adult dosage: 20 mg tablet once daily
- Maximum recommended daily dose: 20 mg Bilastine
- Recommended dosage for children between 6 to 11 years: 10 mg mouth dissolving tablet
- Recommended dosage for children between 2 to 11 years: 4 ml once daily
Interaction
- Concomitant use with ketoconazole increases concentration of Mylastin
- Concomitant use with erythromycin increases concentration of Mylastin
- Concomitant use with cyclosporine increases concentration of Mylastin
- Concomitant use with diltiazem increases concentration of Mylastin
- No significant interaction between Mylastin and alcohol
- No potentiation of CNS effects with concomitant use of Mylastin and lorazepam
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Limited data on use in pregnant women
- Preferable to avoid use during pregnancy as a precautionary measure
- Consideration of benefit of breast-feeding for the child and benefit of therapy for the mother
Precautions & Warnings
- Rare occurrence of drowsiness affecting driving or machine use
- No difference in efficacy or safety in elderly patients
- No dosage adjustment needed in patients with severe renal impairment
- No clinically relevant influence expected from liver function changes
Use in Special Populations
- Efficacy and safety not established in children under 2 years of age
- Limited clinical experience in children aged 2 to 5 years
Overdose Effects
- Increased frequency of treatment-emergent adverse events
- No serious adverse events reported
- No significant prolongation in the QTc interval
