Indications
- Reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in glaucoma patients
- Reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with ocular hypertension
Pharmacology
- Comprised of Brimonidine Tartrate & Timolol Maleate
- Brimonidine Tartrate is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist
- Brimonidine Tartrate decreases aqueous humor production
- Brimonidine Tartrate increases nonpressure dependent uveoscleral outflow
- Timolol Maleate is a β-adrenergic receptor antagonist
- Timolol Maleate lowers IOP by reducing aqueous humor production
- Combination of both drugs gives rapid onset of action
- Peak ocular hypotensive effect seen within two hours of administration
Dosage & Administration
- Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily
Interaction
- Specific drug interaction studies have not been conducted
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component
- Contraindicated in bronchial asthma
- Contraindicated in severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Contraindicated in sinus bradycardia
- Contraindicated in second or third-degree atrioventricular block
- Contraindicated in overt cardiac failure
- Contraindicated in cardiogenic shock
Side Effects
- Allergic conjunctivitis
- Conjunctival folliculosis
- Conjunctival hyperaemia
- Eye pruritus
- Ocular burning or stinging
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
- Timolol detected in human milk
- Unknown excretion of Brimonidine Tartrate in human milk
- Decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother
Precautions & Warnings
- May be absorbed systemically when topically applied
- Same types of cardiovascular and pulmonary adverse reactions as systemic beta-blockers may occur
- Exercise caution in treating patients with severe or unstable and uncontrolled cardiovascular or pulmonary diseases
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of 2 years not established
- No overall differences in safety or effectiveness observed between elderly and other adult patients

- Do not use longer than 30 days after the first opening of the bottle
