Indications

Pharmacology
- Semisynthetic analogue of Cephalosporin C
- Interferes in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
- First generation cephalosporin
Dosage & Administration
- Adult:
- Usual dose 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours
- Dose can be increased up to 3 g to 6 g daily for severe infections
- Children:
- Dosage range is 25-100 mg/kg/day
- Total daily dose may be divided and administered every 12 hours
- Therapeutic dosage of the drug should be given at least for 10 days for streptococcal infections
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin group of antibiotics
