Pharmacology

Semisynthetic analogue of Cephalosporin C
Interferes in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
Kills bacteria by inhibiting transpeptidase enzyme
Active by mouth

Dosage & Administration

Usual adult dose: 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours
Increased dosage for severe or deep-seated infections
Children's weight recommended dose

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin group of antibiotics
