Indications
- Treatment of hypertension
Pharmacology
- Calcium channel blocker
- Vasoconstrictor blocker
- Blood pressure lowering effect
Dosage & Administration
- Effective doses of Amlodipine (2.5 mg - 10 mg) and Valsartan (80 mg - 320 mg)
- Antihypertensive effect attained within 2 weeks
- Max dosage of 10/320 mg once daily
- Can be administered with or without food
- Can be administered with other antihypertensive agents
- Special dosage considerations for elderly, renal impairment, and hepatic impairment

- No drug interaction studies conducted for the combination
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any components of the product
Side Effects
- Mild and transient side effects
- Common side effects include peripheral edema, nasal congestion, sore throat, discomfort when swallowing, upper respiratory tract infection, dizziness
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category D
- Unknown excretion in human milk
- Consideration for discontinuation of nursing or drug based on importance to the mother
Precautions & Warnings
- Avoid fetal or neonatal exposure
- Assess for hypotension
- Warn patients with severe obstructive coronary artery disease about the risk of myocardial infarction or increased angina
- Titrate slowly in patients with impaired hepatic or severely impaired renal function
