Pharmacology
Immunosuppressant, Inhibits production of rheumatoid and acute phase reactants, Stabilizes lysosomal membranes, Inhibits activity of enzymes, Disrupts cell walls of infected red blood cells, Kills developing parasites
Dosage & Administration
- Oral administration
- Taken with food to avoid stomach upset
- Dose for rheumatoid arthritis: 400 to 600 mg daily
- Dose for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE): 400 mg once or twice daily
- Dose for Malaria: 800 mg initial dose for adults, followed by maintenance doses
- Special dose regimen for children with malaria
