Indications

• treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis
• susceptible strains of microorganisms
• ophthalmic solution
• Aerobic Gram-positive microorganisms
• Aerobic Gram-negative microorganisms

Pharmacology

• antimicrobial action
• inhibition of topoisomerase II
• inhibition of topoisomerase IV
• replication of bacterial DNA
• bacterial cell division

Dosage & Administration

• one drop in the affected eye(s)
• 2 times daily for 7 days

Interaction

• drug-drug interaction studies not conducted

Side Effects

• ocular adverse events
• eye irritation
• pyrexia
• conjunctivitis
• decreased visual acuity
• dry eye
• ocular discomfort
• ocular hyperemia
• ocular pain
• ocular pruritus
• subconjunctival hemorrhage

Pregnancy & Lactation

• use during pregnancy
• potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
• no adequate and well-documented studies in pregnant women
• excretion in human milk
• caution when administered to a breastfeeding mother

Precautions & Warnings

• prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
• caution with other anti-infective

Use in Special Populations

• Pediatric Use
• safety and effectiveness in infants below four months of age not proven
• clinical studies show safe use in children even younger than one month of age
• Geriatric Use
• no overall differences in safety and effectiveness observed between elderly and younger patients

Overdose Effects

• practically no risk of adverse effects due to accidental ingestion
• bottle contains only 25 mg Moxifloxacin

Storage Conditions

• store in a cool and dry place away from light
• keep out of reach of children
• do not touch the dropper tip to surfaces
• do not use the medicine after one month of the first opening
