Pharmacology
- Immunosuppressant action
- Inhibition of production of rheumatoid and acute phase reactants
- Accumulation in white blood cells
- Stabilization of lysosomal membranes
- Inhibition of enzymes including collagenase
- Disruption of infected red blood cell walls
- Parasite eradication
Dosage & Administration
- Oral administration
- Taken with food
- 400 to 600mg daily for rheumatoid arthritis
- 400mg once or twice daily for SLE
- 800mg initial dose for malaria in adults
- 25mg/kg total dose in 3 days for children
- Dosage reduction after good response
- Maintenance doses
