Pharmacology
Levocarnitine facilitates long-chain fatty acid entry into cellular mitochondria for energy production.
Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 330 mg two or three times daily
- Infants and children: 50 to 100 mg/kg/day in divided doses

Pregnancy & Lactation

Precautions & Warnings
- Gastrointestinal reactions from rapid consumption
- Safety not evaluated in patients with renal insufficiency
- Chronic high doses in patients with compromised renal function may result in accumulation of toxic metabolites
