Description
- Biltin 12.5 mg/5 ml Solution is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of allergic rhino conjunctivitis (seasonal and perennial) and urticaria. It is a potent, effective, non-sedating, long-acting histamine antagonist with selective & high affinity to H1 receptor. It is available in tablet and mouth dissolving tablet forms for different age groups.
Dosage and administration
- 20 mg tablet once daily for adults & adolescents (12 years of age and over)
- 10 mg mouth dissolving tablet once daily for children between 6 to 11 years
- 4 ml once daily for children between 2 to 11 years
Interaction
- Concomitant use with ketoconazole, erythromycin, cyclosporine, or diltiazem increases the concentration of Biltin
- Concomitant intake of Biltin and lorazepam does not potentiate the depressant CNS effects of lorazepam
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients of the tablet

Pregnancy and lactation
- Preferable to avoid the use of Biltin during pregnancy
- Decision must consider the benefit of breast-feeding for the child and the benefit of Biltin therapy for the mother
Precautions and warnings
- Treatment with Biltin does not affect driving performance
- Rarely some people experience drowsiness which may affect their ability to drive or use machines
- No dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with renal impairment
- Not recommended for children under 2 years of age
Overdose effects
- After administration of high doses, frequency of treatment-emergent adverse events was increased
- Most frequently reported adverse reactions were dizziness, headache, and nausea
