Indications
- Treatment of hypertension alone or with other antihypertensive agents
- Lowering blood pressure
- Initial therapy in patients likely to need multiple antihypertensive agents
Pharmacology
- Dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (Amlodipine)
- Peripheral arterial vasodilator
- Selective blocking of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor (Olmesartan Medoxomil)
Dosage & Administration
- Substitute individually titrated components
- Initial therapy with 5/20 mg once daily for 1 to 2 weeks
- Maximum dosage of 10/40 mg once daily
Interaction
- Attenuation of antihypertensive effect by NSAIDs including selective COX-2 inhibitors
- Closely monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes
Contraindications
- Co-administration with Aliskiren in patients with diabetes

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category D
- Avoid use in 2nd and 3rd trimester
- Discontinuation when pregnancy is detected
