Interactions

  • Interacts with thiazide diuretics
  • Reduces calcium absorption when used with systemic corticosteroids

  • Should be administered at least three hours before intake of bisphosphonate or sodium fluoride

Pregnancy lactation

  • Can be used during breastfeeding

Precautions warnings

  • Serum calcium levels should be monitored during long-term treatment
  • Renal function should be monitored in elderly patients and those with a high tendency to calculus formation
  • Vitamin D should be used with caution in patients with impairment of renal function
  • Risk of soft tissue calcification should be considered
  • Caution in patients suffering from sarcoidosis
  • Caution in immobilized patients with osteoporosis
