  • Max Coral DX 600 mg Tablet is a combination of calcium carbonate and vitamin D3. It is used to prevent and treat calcium and vitamin D deficiency. Calcium is important for building and maintaining strong bones and teeth. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium.

Composition

  • Each tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP 1250 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 200 IU.
  • Each DX tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 400 IU.
  • Each effervescent tablet contains Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) USP 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP.

  • Adequate Calcium in the blood is vital to a wide variety of bodily functions
  • Vitamin D aids in Calcium absorption from the GI tract and stimulates bone formation
  • Coral Calcium sourced from coral origin ensures better absorption
  • Vitamin D3 aids in maintaining Calcium balance in the body

Dosage and administration

  • One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by the physician
  • Effervescent tablet should be dissolved in a glass of water and stirred before drinking for better absorption

Interaction

  • Thiazide diuretics reduce the urinary excretion of calcium
  • Systemic corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption
  • Simultaneous treatment with ion exchange resins such as cholestyramine or laxatives may reduce the gastrointestinal absorption of vitamin D
  • Calcium carbonate may interfere with the absorption of concomitantly administered tetracycline preparations
  • Hypercalcaemia may increase the toxicity of cardiac glycosides during treatment with calcium and vitamin D

  • Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
  • Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
  • Hypersensitivity to the component of this preparation
  • Severe renal insufficiencies
  • Concomitant digoxin therapy

  • Caution in elderly patients on concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides or diuretics
  • Vitamin D should be used with caution in patients with impairment of renal function
  • Risk of soft tissue calcification

  • Exert caution when prescribing other drugs containing vitamin D

Overdose effects

  • Hypervitaminosis D

  • Treatment involves discontinuing calcium and other concomitant medications, rehydration, and monitoring serum electrolytes and renal function
