    • Sodium Chloride: 350.7 mg

Pharmacology

  • Osmotic action in the gut
  • Increase in stool volume
  • Induction of laxative effect
  • Improves propulsive colonic transportation

Dosage & Administration

  • Adults and Children (Powder for Suspension):
    • 1 sachet daily for constipation
    • 8 sachets daily for fecal impaction
    • No dosage change for patients with renal insufficiency
    • Dissolve sachet in water and store refrigerated
  • Adults and Children (Oral Solution):
    • 1 dose daily for constipation
    • 8 doses daily for fecal impaction
    • Dilute solution in water and discard unused within 24 hours

Interaction

  • Transient reduction in absorption of other medicinal products
  • Possible decreased efficacy with some concomitantly administered medicinal products

Contraindications

  • Intestinal perforation or obstruction
  • Ileus
  • Severe inflammatory conditions of the intestinal tract
  • Toxic megacolon
  • Hypersensitivity to the active substances

Precautions & Warnings

  • Divide dose for patients with impaired cardiovascular function
  • Monitor for symptoms indicating shifts of fluid/electrolytes
  • Prolonged use may lead to dependence

Overdose Effects

  • Severe pain or distention treatment by nasogastric aspiration
  • Correction of electrolyte disturbances for extensive fluid loss
