Description

Picaso 10 mg Tablet is indicated for constipation, relief from prolonged & recurrent constipation, and bowel clearance before surgery, childbirth or radiological investigations. It is a sodium picosulfate derivative stimulant laxative that acts locally in the colon, promoting accumulation of water and electrolytes, resulting in colonic peristalsis, reduction of transit time, and softening of the stool. The recommended dosages for adults and children vary based on the form of the medication (tablet, oral solution, concentrated oral solution). Contraindications include ileus or intestinal obstruction, severe painful and/or feverish acute abdominal conditions, acute inflammatory bowel diseases, severe dehydration, and known hypersensitivity to sodium picosulfate. Side effects may include hypersensitivity, dizziness, syncope, gastrointestinal disorders, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and nausea. Precautions should be taken for prolonged excessive use, alcoholism, pregnancy, breastfeeding, children, and high-risk groups such as patients with liver disease or epilepsy. Storage conditions require keeping the product below 30°C temperature, away from light & moisture, and out of the reach of children. The chemical structure has a molecular formula of C18H15NNa2O9S2. It belongs to the therapeutic class of stimulant laxatives.
