Indications
- Constipation of any etiology
- Relief from prolonged & recurrent constipation
- Bowel clearance before surgery, childbirth or radiological investigations.
Pharmacology
- Stimulant laxative
- Activated by colonic bacteria
- Stimulates colonic peristalsis and accumulation of water and electrolytes
- Results in stimulation of defecation and reduction of transit time
Dosage and Administration
- Oral administration
- Recommended to be taken at night for evacuation the following morning
- Start with lowest dose
- Maximum recommended daily dose should not be exceeded
Dosage Options
- 10 mg tablet
- Oral Solution (5 mg/5 ml)
- Concentrated Oral Solution (7.5 mg/ml)
Interaction
- Concomitant use of diuretics or adreno-corticosteroids may increase electrolyte imbalance
- Concurrent administration of antibiotics may reduce laxative action
Contraindications
- Ileus or intestinal obstruction
- Severe painful and/or feverish acute abdominal conditions
- Severe dehydration
- Known hypersensitivity to Sodium Picosulfate or any other component

Pregnancy and Lactation

- Harmful for those suffering from alcoholism
- To be taken into account in pregnant or breast-feeding women, children, and high-risk groups
