Indications
- Treatment of moderate to severe intra-abdominal infections
- Treatment of skin and skin structure infections

Pharmacology
- Broad spectrum penicillin
- Bactericidal activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria

Dosage & Administration
- To be administered by intravenous infusion over 30 minutes
- Adult dose: 3.375g every six hours
- Pediatric dosage based on age and body weight
- Duration of treatment: 7 to 14 days depending on the condition
Interactions
- Potential interactions with aminoglycosides, probenecid, anticoagulants, vecuronium, and methotrexate
Contraindications
- Allergic reactions to penicillins, cephalosporins, or beta-lactamase inhibitors

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Crosses the placenta in humans
- Insufficient data for safety in pregnant women

- Reported instances of serious hypersensitivity reactions, severe cutaneous adverse reactions, and hematological effects
- Nephrotoxicity observed in critically ill patients
- Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea to be evaluated if it occurs
Use in Special Populations
- Supported use in pediatric patients 2 months of age and older
- Dosage adjustment for patients with renal impairment
- No dosage adjustment warranted in patients with hepatic cirrhosis
- Increased incidence of fever and rash in cystic fibrosis patients
