Indications

  • Treatment of moderate to severe intra-abdominal infections

Pharmacology

  • Broad spectrum penicillin
  • Bactericidal activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria

Dosage & Administration

  • To be administered by intravenous infusion over 30 minutes
  • Adult dose: 3.375g every six hours
  • Pediatric dosage based on age and body weight
  • Duration of treatment: 7 to 14 days depending on the condition

Interactions

  • Potential interactions with aminoglycosides, probenecid, anticoagulants, vecuronium, and methotrexate

Contraindications

  • Allergic reactions to penicillins, cephalosporins, or beta-lactamase inhibitors
