Indications

Add-on therapy for stable angina pectoris
Symptomatic treatment
Inadequately controlled by first-line antianginal therapies
Intolerant to first-line antianginal therapies

Pharmacology

First 3-keto acyl CoA thiolase inhibitor
Metabolic anti-ischemic agent
Inhibits fatty acid pathway
Inhibits 3-keto acyl CoA thiolase enzyme
Transfers oxygen to glucose pathway
Increased energy production from glucose
Prevention of lactic acid production
Beneficial for coronary patients

Dosage & Administration

Recommended dose of 35mg twice daily or 20mg thrice daily
To be taken during meals
Assess treatment response after three months
Discontinue if no treatment response

No interaction with calcium antagonists

No interaction with heparin
No interaction with hypolipidemic agents
