Indications

  • Adjunct treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus
  • Insufficiently controlled on maximally tolerated dose of Metformin alone
  • Combination therapy for diabetes management
  • Already being treated with Empagliflozin and Metformin as separate tablets

Pharmacology

  • Inhibitor of Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2 (SGLT2)
  • Reduces renal reabsorption of glucose
  • Lowers renal threshold for glucose
  • Decreases hepatic glucose production
  • Improves insulin sensitivity

Dosage & Administration

  • Twice daily with meals
  • Individualized dosage based on effectiveness and tolerability
  • Gradual dose escalation to reduce gastrointestinal side effects
  • Maximum recommended daily doses of Metformin Hydrochloride and Empagliflozin
  • Recommended individualized starting dose based on current drug regimen
  • Extended-release formulations available
