Indications

  • Stable angina pectoris treatment

  • Inadequately controlled patients

Pharmacology

  • Metabolic anti-ischemic agent
  • 3-keto acyl CoA thiolase inhibitor (KAT)
  • Inhibition of fatty acid pathway
  • Aerobic oxidation of glucose
  • Prevention of lactic acid production

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended dose of 35mg twice daily
  • Recommended dose of 20mg thrice daily during meals
  • Assessment of treatment response after three months
  • Discontinuation if no treatment response

Interaction

  • No reported drug interactions
  • No interactions with beta-blockers
  • No interactions with calcium antagonists
  • No interactions with nitrates

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to active substance
  • Hypersensitivity to excipients
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Parkinsonian symptoms
  • Tremors
  • Restless legs movement disorders
  • Severe renal impairment

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Not initial treatment for unstable angina pectoris
  • Not a treatment for myocardial infarction
