Description
Leptic ODT 0.5 mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia, and as an adjunct in the treatment of the Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, akinetic and myoclonic seizures.

Pharmacology
Exhibits anticonvulsive, sedative, muscle relaxing, and anxiolytic effects by enhancing GABAergic neurotransmission at inhibitory synapses.
RecommendedAdultDose
- Initial dose for seizure disorders: 1.5 mg/day divided into three doses (maximum 20 mg/day)
- Initial dose for panic disorder: 0.25 mg given in two divided doses, increase to 1 mg/day after 3 days
RecommendedPediatricDose
Initial dose for infants and children: 0.01-0.03 mg/kg/day, not to exceed 0.05 mg/kg/day in 2-3 divided doses
Interaction
Does not significantly alter the pharmacokinetics of phenytoin, carbamazepine, or phenobarbital
Contraindications
- History of hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines
- Clinical or biochemical evidence of significant liver disease
- Acute narrow angle glaucoma

PregnancyAndLactation
Should be administered only if the potential benefits outweigh the risk to the fetus. Breastfeeding should be discontinued if there is a compelling indication for use.
Precautions
May increase the incidence or precipitate the onset of generalized tonic-clonic seizures, requiring appropriate anticonvulsants or increased dosages.
SpecialPopulations
- Pediatric Use: May cause increased production of saliva and bronchial secretion in infants and small children
- Geriatric Use: Benzodiazepine effects appear to be greater in elderly patients
OverdoseEffects
May cause drowsiness, ataxia, dysarthria, areflexia, apnoea, hypotension, and coma; Monitor vital signs and institute supportive measures as indicated
