Indications
- perennial allergic rhinitis
- seasonal allergic rhinitis
- chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology
Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride, nonsedating antihistamine, potent antiallergic properties
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose of 5 mg once daily for adults and children 12 years of age and older
- Recommended dose of 2.5 mg once daily for children 6 to 11 years of age
- Recommended dose of 1.25 mg once daily for children 6 months to 5 years of age
- Pediatric use based on extrapolation of efficacy from adults 18 years of age and older
- No specific dosage adjustment for patients with hepatic impairment
- Renal impairment dosage: 2.5 mg daily for mild, 2.5 mg every other day for moderate, 2.5 mg twice weekly for severe, avoid in end-stage renal disease and hemodialysis patients

Not known to have any interactions with other drugs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, cetirizine, or hydroxyzine
- Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance: <10 ml/min)
Side Effects
- Rarely reported: headache, dry mouth, fatigue, skin rash
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category B, use during pregnancy only if clearly needed, not recommended for nursing mothers

- Epileptic patients and patients at risk of convulsions

Overdose Effects
No clinically relevant adverse events reported, symptomatic and supportive treatment recommended in case of overdose
