Indications

• Meniere's disease

Description

• Histamine analog
• relieves vertigo symptoms
• improves circulation in the inner ear
• reduces pressure on membranous labyrinth

Pharmacology

• Acts as histamine H1-receptor agonist
• causes vasodilatory effect
• reduces endolymphatic pressure
• increases vestibulocochlear blood flow

Dosage & Administration

• Initial oral treatment 8-16mg three times daily
• maintenance doses 24-48mg daily
• dosage adjustments based on individual needs

Interaction

• No proven hazardous interactions
• potential interactions with ethanol and specific compounds
• possible mutual attenuation with H1 antagonists

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in patients with phaeochromocytoma
• hypersensitivity to the active substance

Overdose Effects

• Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, ataxia, seizures
• more serious complications observed in intentional overdose or combination with other drugs
• no specific antidote
