Indications
- Relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis
- Relief of signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis
Pharmacology
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
- Exhibits anti-inflammatory properties
- Exhibits analgesic properties
- Exhibits antipyretic properties
- Mode of action involves inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
Dosage & Administration
- Available in 500 mg & 750 mg Tablet
- Available in 1000 mg Tablet
- Recommended starting dose is 1000 mg
- Maximum daily dose not to exceed 2000 mg
- Caution in prescribing to patients with renal insufficiency
- No established safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients
Interaction
- May diminish the antihypertensive effect of ACE-inhibitors
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nabumetone
- Contraindicated in patients with asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions to aspirin or other NSAIDs
- Contraindicated for the treatment of peri-operative pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery

Precautions & Warnings
- Associated with renal papillary necrosis and other abnormal renal pathology
- May result in reduction of renal blood flow in certain patients
- Patients at greatest risk include those with impaired renal function, heart failure, liver dysfunction, those taking diuretics, and the elderly
Overdose Effects
- Symptoms include lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, and epigastric pain
- Gastrointestinal bleeding may occur
- Rare occurrence of hypertension, acute renal failure, respiratory depression, and coma
- No specific antidotes
