Indications

  • Add-on therapy for stable angina pectoris
  • Symptomatic treatment for inadequately controlled angina pectoris

Pharmacology

  • First 3-keto acyl CoA thiolase inhibitor (KAT)
  • Metabolic anti-ischemic agent
  • Inhibits fatty acid pathway
  • Transfers oxygen to glucose pathway

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended dose: 35 mg twice daily or 20 mg tablet thrice daily
  • To be taken during meals
  • Assess treatment response after three months

Interaction

  • No reported drug interactions
  • No known interaction with beta-blockers, calcium antagonists, nitrates, heparin, hypolipidemic agents, or digitalis preparation

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients
  • Parkinson’s disease or related symptoms
  • Severe renal impairment
