Dosage & Administration
- Adrenal insufficiency dose: 50 mg/day for 3 months (replacement dose)
- Adrenal insufficiency dose: 200 mg/day for supraphysiological circulating levels
- Anorexia nervosa dose: 100 mg/day for 6 months
- Diminished ovarian reserve dose: 50-75 mg/day (in divided doses)
- Exercise training-induced muscle damage dose: 100 mg/day over 5 days
- Major depressive disorder dose: 30-450 mg/day for 6-8 weeks
- Metabolic syndrome dose: 100 mg/day for 3 months
- Postmenopausal women dose: 25 mg/day (suggested), at least 50 mg/day for positive outcomes
Interaction
- Interference with commercially available progesterone assays leading to false-positive increases in serum progesterone
Contraindications
- Not recommended in breast or prostate cancer
