Pharmacological Action
- Bactericidal effect on both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
- Inhibition of cross-linking process in bacterial cell wall

- Oral capsules
- Injectable solutions
Dosage & Administration
- Adults: Urinary tract infections - 500mg-1g four times daily
- Respiratory tract infections - 250-500mg four times daily
- Children: Dosage based on weight and infection type
- Elderly and Renal Impairment: Dose adjustment required
Interaction
- Increased risk of kidney damage with nephrotoxic drugs
- Enhanced renal toxicity with diuretics and probenecid
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
