Dosage & Administration

Usual course of treatment is 7 days, which may be extended to 14 days if required
Recommended adult dosage is 200-400 mg daily according to the severity of the infection

May be administered in the presence of impaired renal function

Interaction

Increases in prothrombin times noted in a few patients
Care should be taken in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy

Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics

Headache, dizziness
Allergies in the form of rash, pruritus, urticaria, drug fever, and arthralgia

Pseudomembraneous colitis reported

Pregnancy & Lactation

No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
Caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing woman

Precautions & Warnings

Given with caution to patients with hypersensitivity to other drugs
Given with caution to penicillin-sensitive patients

Use in pregnancy and lactation should be avoided unless considered essential by the physician
