Dosage
- Calcium Orotate 400 mg
- Calcium Orotate 740 mg
Administration
- 2-3 tablets per day with meal (400 mg)
- 1-2 tablets per day with meal (740 mg)
Pharmacology
- Contains Calcium Orotate with orotic acid
- Assists in calcium transport through cellular membranes
- Facilitates intracellular uptake of calcium, particularly in bone
- Involved in the synthesis of DNA and RNA
Indications
- Prevention or treatment of low blood calcium levels
- Conditions like osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, latent tetany, postmenopausal osteoporosis, senile osteoporosis, juvenile osteoporosis, drug-induced osteoporosis, pregnancy and lactation, premenstrual syndrome, hypoparathyroidism, hip joint plastic surgery
- Aids in controlling weight and mood swings
- Protects the heart and minimizes the risk of colon cancer
Interaction
- Can decrease absorption of biphosphonates, quinolone antibiotics, tetracycline antibiotics, levothyroxine, phenytoin, tiludronate disodium, and thiazide-type diuretics
- Interacts with aluminum- and magnesium-containing antacids, mineral oil, stimulant laxatives, glucocorticoids, oral contraceptives, estrogen compounds, anti-inflammatories, and corticosteroids
Contraindications
- Incomplete or infrequent bowel movements
- Kidney stone or disease
- Increased activity of the parathyroid gland
- High amount of Calcium in urine or blood
- Extreme loss of body water
