Recommended Dosage

• 2-3 tablets of 400 mg with meal or as directed

Pharmacology

• Contains Calcium Orotate with orotic acid as a chelating ligand

Mode of Action

• Assists in transport of calcium through cellular membrane structures
• Facilitates intracellular uptake of calcium, particularly in bone
• Involved in the synthesis of DNA and RNA
• Helps in the maintenance of healthy cartilage

Interactions

• Decreases absorption of biphosphonates, quinolone antibiotics, tetracycline antibiotics, levothyroxine, phenytoin, and tiludronate disodium
• Thiazide-type diuretics interaction increasing risks of hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria
• Interacts with aluminum- and magnesium-containing antacids, mineral oil, stimulant laxatives, glucocorticoids, oral contraceptives, estrogen compounds, anti-inflammatories, and corticosteroids

Contraindications

• Incomplete or infrequent bowel movements
• Kidney stone or kidney disease
• Increased activity of the parathyroid gland
• High amount of Calcium in urine or blood
• Extreme loss of body water

• Bloating and swelling in the abdomen
• Loss of appetite, upset stomach, constipation, nausea, vomiting
• Unusual weight loss, increased thirst/urination, weakness, unusual tiredness
• Formation of kidney stones
