Indications
- Treatment of acute cerebro-vascular accidents (strokes)
- Relief of psychosomatic symptoms in the elderly due to cerebral insufficiency
- Management of visual disorders due to vascular disorders of the choroid and retina
- Treatment of impaired hearing of vascular or toxic origin
- Forgetting, memory disturbances, slow thinking, lack of concentration, dizziness
- Mood instability, aphasia, sleep disturbances, menopausal syndrome symptoms
Pharmacology
- Increases cerebral metabolism
- Improves glucose and O2 consumption
- Enhances cerebral hypoxia tolerance
- Shifts glucose metabolism to aerobic pathway
- Elevates ATP concentration in the brain
- Increases cerebral norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin levels
- Improves cerebral microcirculation
- Inhibits platelet aggregation

Dosage & Administration
- Tablet: 1-2 tablets thrice daily
- Maintenance dose: 1 tablet thrice daily
- IM Injection: Daily dose of 20-40 mg
- IV Infusion: Daily starting dose of 20 mg in slow drip infusion
- Dosage adjustment based on patient tolerance
- Parenteral treatment in acute stage, oral therapy in chronic cases
Interaction
- Chemically incompatible with heparin
- Should not be injected in the same syringe as heparin
Contraindications
- Severe ischaemic heart disease
- Severe rhythm disorders
- Pregnancy
