Vasocil 50 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Reduction of symptoms of intermittent claudication
• Increased walking distance
• Symptoms of vascular claudication
• Muscle pain during light exertion

Pharmacology

• Quinolinone derivative
• Inhibition of cellular phosphodiesterase III (PDE III)
• Suppression of cAMP degradation
• Increase in cAMP in platelets and blood vessels
• Inhibition of platelet aggregation
• Vasodilation

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended dosage of 100 mg bid
• Administration at least half an hour before or two hours after breakfast and dinner
• Consideration of lower dose during coadministration with specific drugs
• Pediatric use not established

Interaction

• Increased systemic exposure with Omeprazole and Erythromycin
• Higher concentrations with concurrent Diltiazem use

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in patients with congestive heart failure
• Contraindicated in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity

Side Effects

• Common: headache, diarrhea, vomiting, leg cramps, rash
• Less frequent: anorexia, edema

Pregnancy & Lactation

• No adequate and well controlled studies in pregnant women
• Transfer of Cilostazol into milk reported in animals
• Potential risk to nursing infants

Precautions & Warnings

• Use with caution in patients with any degree of heart failure
• No information on concurrent use with Clopidogrel
