Pharmacology

Dosage & Administration

  • Adult dosage: Butamirate Citrate 50 mg tablet - 2-3 tablets daily
  • Adult dosage: Butamirate Citrate syrup - 15 ml 4 times daily
  • Adolescent dosage: Butamirate Citrate 50 mg tablet - 1-2 tablets daily
  • Children (3-6 yrs) dosage: Butamirate Citrate syrup - 5 ml 3 times daily
  • Children (6-12 yrs) dosage: Butamirate Citrate syrup - 10 ml 3 times daily
  • Adolescent dosage: Butamirate Citrate syrup - 15 ml 3 times daily
  • Children (2 months- 1 yrs) dosage: Butamirate Citrate pediatric drops - 0.50 ml 4 times daily
  • Children (1-3 yrs) dosage: Butamirate Citrate pediatric drops - 0.75 ml 4 times daily

Interaction

Concomitant use with expectorants should be avoided

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient

Side Effects

  • Tolerance of Drycofix is good
  • Adverse reactions such as rash, nausea, diarrhea, and vertigo observed in rare cases

Pregnancy & Lactation

Not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy, caution in later stages, careful consideration during breastfeeding

Precautions & Warnings

  • Concomitant use with expectorants should be avoided
  • Consult a doctor if cough persists for more than 7 days (more than 3 days in children younger than 12 years)

Overdose Effects

Symptoms may include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of balance, and hypotension; standard emergency procedures should be followed
