Indications
- Hypertension

Pharmacology
- ACE inhibitor
- Decreased angiotensin II
- Vasopressor activity inhibition
- Aldosterone secretion reduction
Dosage
- Adjusted according to patient tolerance and response
- Initial dose 1.25-2.5 mg once daily for hypertension
- Initial dose of 2.5 mg twice daily for heart failure post-myocardial infarction
- Renal impairment dosage adjustments
Administration
- Tablets to be swallowed with liquid
- Absorption not significantly affected by food
- Can be taken before, during, or after a meal
Interaction
- Concomitant administration with diuretics may lead to serious hypotension and hyperkalemia
- Concomitant therapy with lithium may increase serum concentration
- NSAIDs may reduce antihypertensive effect
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ramipril or other ACE inhibitors
- History of angioedema
- Concomitant sacubitril/valsartan therapy
- Haemodynamically relevant renal artery stenosis
- Hypotensive or haemodynamically unstable states
- Aliskiren-containing medicines in diabetic patients
- Angiotensin II receptor antagonists in diabetic nephropathy
- Pregnancy
- Extracorporeal treatments with negatively charged surfaces
