Indications
- Treatment of deep vein thrombosis, with or without pulmonary embolism
- Treatment of unstable angina and non-Q-wave myocardial infarction
- Prevention of thrombus formation in the extra-corporeal circulation during hemodialysis
- Prophylaxis of venous thromboembolic disease in surgical patients
- Prophylaxis of venous thromboembolic disease in medical patients
Composition
- 0.2 ml pre-filled syringe contains Enoxaparin Sodium BP 20 mg
- 0.4 ml pre-filled syringe contains Enoxaparin Sodium BP 40 mg
- 0.6 ml pre-filled syringe contains Enoxaparin Sodium BP 60 mg
- 0.8 ml pre-filled syringe contains Enoxaparin Sodium BP 80 mg
Pharmacology
Enoxaparin Sodium is a low molecular weight heparin with high anti-Xa activity and low anti-IIa or antithrombin activity.
Dosage
- Subcutaneously 100 anti-Xa lU/kg twice daily for 10 days
- Subcutaneously 150 anti-Xa lU/kg once daily for 10 days
- Subcutaneously 100 anti-Xa lU/kg twice daily for 2-8 days
- Subcutaneously 2000-4000 anti-Xa IU once daily for 7-10 days

Recommendations for discontinuation of agents affecting hemostasis prior to Cardinex therapy.
Contraindications
Patients with known hypersensitivity to Enoxaparin Sodium, heparin or other low molecular weight heparins. Patients with active major bleeding and conditions with a high risk of uncontrolled hemorrhage including recent hemorrhagic stroke.
Side Effects
Side effects include haemorrhage, Thrombocytopenia, bluish marks at injection sites, skin rash, and cases of neuraxial hematomas.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy category B. Enoxaparin Sodium may be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Use caution during nursing.
Precautions & Warnings
Usage caution in conditions with increased potential for bleeding, impaired hemostasis, recent ischemic stroke, uncontrolled severe arterial hypertension, and more.
Use in Special Populations
- No dosage adjustment is necessary for elderly patients
- Observation for signs and symptoms of bleeding in patients with renal impairment
- Caution should be used in hepatically impaired patients
Overdose Effects
Accidental overdosage may lead to hemorrhagic complications. Protamine sulfate may be used for neutralization.
