Odycin D 0.5%+0.1% (Ophthalmic Solution)

Indications

• Treatment of eye infections caused by susceptible microorganisms
• Prevention of inflammation and bacterial infection after eye surgery

Composition

• 5 mg Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride BP
• 1 mg Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate USP

Pharmacology

• Moxifloxacin inhibits topoisomerase II and topoisomerase IV
• Dexamethasone is anti-allergic, anti-exudative, and anti-proliferative

Dosage & Administration

• Instill 1 drop, 4 times a day for up to 7 days for eye infections
• Use 1 drop, 4 times a day for 15 days after eye surgery

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to quinolones or any components of the product
• Glaucoma or ocular disease causing thinning of the cornea or sclera
• Inflammation in the eye caused by virus, fungi, or mycobacteria

Side Effects

• Conjunctivitis
• Decreased visual acuity
• Cataract formation
• Secondary ocular infection following suppression of host response

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
• Caution advised when given to nursing women

Precautions & Warnings

• Discontinue use if allergic reaction occurs
• Prolonged steroid use may result in ocular hypertension
• Steroids may mask infection or enhance existing infection in acute purulent eye conditions

Use in Special Populations

• No change in dosage in elderly patients
• Efficacy and safety in pediatric patients not established
