Indications
- Relief of sign and symptoms of osteoarthritis

Pharmacology
Dexibuprofen is the active enantiomer of racemic ibuprofen with analgesic action. It acts by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. It is absorbed primarily from the small intestine, metabolized in the liver, and excreted mainly by the kidneys.
Dosage & Administration
Dosage must be adjusted to the seriousness of the syndrome and the complaints of the patient. The recommended dosage is 600-900 mg Dexibuprofen per day, at 2-3 divided doses, with a maximum daily dose of 1200 mg. For dysmenorrhea, a dosage of 600-900 mg Dexibuprofen per day is recommended.
Interaction
Dexifen has interactions with various drugs including anticoagulant, lithium, other NSAID's, ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, cyclosporine, and others.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Dexibuprofen or NSAIDs, and those with active or suspected hemorrhage, serious heart diseases, kidney or liver function impairment.
Side Effects
Common side-effects include dyspepsia, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and hypersensitivity reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use should be avoided during pregnancy due to effects on the fetal cardiovascular system. Caution is advised for nursing mothers.
Precautions & Warnings
Use with caution in patients with bronchial asthma, chronic pulmonary diseases, hepatic, renal or cardiac insufficiency, systemic lupus, and other conditions.
Use in Special Populations
Different dosage adjustments are required for patients with hepatic or renal impairment, children, and elderly people.
Overdose Effects
Symptoms include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, and ataxia. Treatment is symptomatic and there is no specific antidote.
