Description
- Indicated for relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoidal disorders, painful menstruation, common headache, fever, mild to moderate pain, common cold and influenza
- Pharmacologically active enantiomer of racemic ibuprofen
- Dosage recommendation of 600-900 mg per day, up to 1200 mg per day for acute disorders
- Interactions with anticoagulant, hydantoine, sulfonamide, ticlopidine, lithium, other NSAIDs, ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, corticosteroids, digoxin, methotrexate, pentoxyfiline, phenytoine, probenecid, sulfinpyrazon, sulfonylurea, thiazide, thiazide type diuretics, and zidovudine
- Contraindications for patients with hypersensitivity to Dexifen, previous asthma attack, acute rhinitis, urticaria, edema, active or suspected hemorrhage, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, serious heart diseases, kidney function impairment, and liver function impairment
- Common side-effects include dyspepsia, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, hypersensitivity reactions, bleeding, and ulcer
- Avoid use during late pregnancy due to potential effects on fetal cardiovascular system, use with caution in nursing mothers
- Caution advised for patients with bronchial asthma, chronic pulmonary diseases, hepatic, renal, or cardiac insufficiency, hypertension, systemic lupus, autoimmunological disease, hemorrhagic conditions, and alcoholism
- Dosage adjustments required for hepatic and renal impairment, special precautions for pediatric and elderly use
- Low acute toxicities, symptomatic treatment for overdose, storage below 30°C away from light and reach of children
