Indications
- Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus
- Particularly in overweight patients
- Use in adults and children from 10 years of age and adolescents
- Monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or with insulin
- Reduction of diabetic complications in overweight type 2 diabetic adult patients
Pharmacology

Precautions & Warnings
- Substantial excretion by the kidney
- Lower vitamin B12 level
- Increased risk of hypoglycemia when used in combination with insulin
- Regular monitoring of renal function advised
- Therapy should be stopped before certain clinical investigations
- Annual estimation of Vitamin B-12 levels recommended
- Caution during concomitant therapy with a sulphonylurea

Use in Special Populations

Overdose Effects
- Hypoglycemia not seen with certain doses
- Lactic acidosis is a medical emergency
- Hemodialysis as the most effective method to remove lactate and Exformin ER
